Bury College University Centre students teamed up to present an inspiring showcase event.
Students studying the Design in Media Make-up Foundation Degree (FdSc) and Hairdressing Management Foundation Degree impressed family, friends, tutors and peers by planning, managing and hosting an exciting event.
This was an exciting opportunity for learners to display the skills they had developed in the classroom in front of a live audience. For hairdressing students this involved creating show-stopping hair creations on Bury College Performing Arts students and the media make-up students created different looks from glamour to festival looks.
Students created a collection of different looks which they could use within the hair industry including in a salon, for a hair show, feature in a magazine or on the catwalk. Each student decided on their own personal theme and then created these looks through hair, make-up and clothes to complete the final look.
20-year-old Lauren, who is studying the Design in Media Make-up course, created a gold-leaf inspired look and was delighted to showcase her look to an audience. Lauren said, “It was a great opportunity to put on an actual show. We were all looking forward to it and our confidence has definitely improved.”
Visitors of the showcase event were highly impressed with the event. Claire McIlvenny who had attended the event to support daughter Lauren McIlvenny said of the evening, “I am extremely proud to see the work that my daughter has created, I couldn’t stop smiling.”
Ruth Gavaghan from Bury, who is completing the Hairdressing Management Foundation Degree said of the experience, “Tonight was really good, I was nervous but enjoyed it. I chose the theme of elegance and sophistication and loved creating the look.”
