Bury College University Centre is working hard to put appropriate safety measures into place and welcoming you to a safe learning environment this Autumn. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, face to face teaching will be delivered where practically possible and will follow guidelines on social distancing. In response to changing circumstances and changes in public health advice, learning will be delivered in small class sizes. Online resources will be used to support learning. In the event of further social restrictions, for example a further lockdown, delivery of courses will be taught online using a blend of learning resources and online teaching.
Due to the possibility of changing circumstances, please note it may not be possible for planned work experience placements to take place. Where it is possible work placements will be arranged at a more suitable time or location in the academic year and in line with guidelines issued by the awarding university. Learners should be reassured that their safety is our primary concern and any work placements will only go ahead in accordance with government guidelines.

This course prepares you for a teaching career in the post compulsory sector. It is a requirement that all new FE teachers must complete a teacher training qualification as the first step in obtaining QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills). The course does not lead to Qualified Teacher status (QTS) to teach in schools. However, since April 2012 those with QTLS are allowed to teach in schools on the same basis as those with QTS for 14+ students.
