Studying for a business management degree allows you to develop a broad understanding of business organisations and provides you with subject-specific knowledge in areas such as markets, customers, finance, operations, communication, information technology and business policy and strategy.
The Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Business offers you a broad introduction to the subject area through a range of units, which creates the opportunity to gain relevant skills, knowledge and experience across a range of business sectors. This builds core skills and knowledge while preparingyou for subject specialisation and progression to at Level 5. You will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios.
Bury College University Centre is working hard to put appropriate safety measures into place and welcoming you to a safe learning environment this Autumn. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, face to face teaching will be delivered where practically possible and will follow guidelines on social distancing. In response to changing circumstances and changes in public health advice, learning will be delivered in small class sizes. Online resources will be used to support learning. In the event of further social restrictions, for example a further lockdown, delivery of courses will be taught online using a blend of learning resources and online teaching.
Due to the possibility of changing circumstances, please note it may not be possible for planned work experience placement to take place. Where it is possible work placements will be arranged at a more suitable time or location in the academic year. Learners should be reassured that their safety is our primary concern and any extra-curricular activities will only go ahead in accordance with government guidelines.

Level 5 – Organisational Behaviour, Responsibility, Ethics and Sustainability in Practice, Human Resource Management, Services Marketing, Managing Operations, International Economics
Level 6 – Strategic Analysis, Employee Relations, Applied Business Research and Analysis, Independent Project (optional), Innovation and Entrepreneurship (optional), Global Business, Digital Marketing
You will experience a range of different types of assessment during your programme which will include some of the following: Essays, written examinations, presentations, coursework projects and portfolios, practical assessments, group work, dissertation.
Work experience opportunities may be available to help you gain first-hand experience working in different industry sectors.
A Business Management degree prepares you for a career in business, which may stretch across any sector or industry. Your career options are therefore varied.
