About the course:

The Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC in Mechanical Engineering provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the Mechanical Engineering sector

The course aims are to:

• To equip individuals with applied knowledge, understanding and skills for success in employment in the Mechanical Engineering industry


• To enable progression to an undergraduate degree or further professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related areas


• To provide specialist studies relevant to individual vocations and professions in which students are working or intend to seek employment in the Mechanical Engineering and its related industries


• To develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life and thereby enable learners to make an immediate contribution to employment


• To provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for future studies and career development

Entry requirements:

64 UCAS points from at least 2, but preferably three GCE A levels or equivalent in subjects related to electrical engineering or an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) in Electrical Engineering

Applicants should also have the equivalent of 5 GCSEs At grade C or above (or equivalent) including maths and English

The Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechanical Engineering enables students to develop a wide range of skills related to the Mechanical Engineering sector

Bury College has excellent Engineering workshops and Laboratories situated in a purpose built environment. Students benefit from a weekly timetabled tutor led classes and regular feedback on their academic progress.


Additional costs: All students receive an initial allocation of 600 credits per academic year for printing and photocopying, additional credits can be purchased if required.
